How did you become a volunteer/why are you involved?
I've always been pro-life and have felt a calling to get involved since high school. Unfortunately, aside from voting pro-life, I was always too nervous and “busy” to try and help out directly. After living here for 6 years, I again started feeling pushed toward getting involved. I learned more about the 40 Days for Life campaign, and after learning that it involved simply praying outside of the clinic, I knew that I could finally get involved. After a few weekends of praying outside of an empty clinic and reading Abby's book, I knew that I had to do more.
Why you are pro life (is there a story here?):
Ever since I can remember, I've had a hard time understanding how anyone could view an unborn baby as anything other than a human child, worthy of love and compassion. After getting involved with the Coalition, I quickly learned that the same love and compassion needs to be extended to the parents and clinic workers as well.
Any additional thoughts (comments):
I urge anyone who considers themselves pro-life to get involved as a sidewalk counselor. As long as people have faith in God, abortion will continue to be opposed and will eventually be outlawed. Until then, we owe it to our brothers and sisters to help them in their moment of need and help them to understand the love of God and inherent goodness of the alternatives. If we have the courage to stand up and offer God's love, even when it may not be welcome, I believe He will work through us to change the hearts and minds of the world.
