Any passions/interests? I am loving my new role as a wife…8 months going strong! I am also in the process of becoming a certified Creighton Model FertilityCare instructor. I love teaching Natural Family Planning, and hope to spread the ministry throughout the Houston area as much as possible.
How did you become a volunteer/why are you involved? When I was a sophomore at Texas A&M, a couple of friends from church let me know about the 40 Days for Life campaign and encouraged me to come out to the sidewalk to pray with them. I was a little intimidated, but after seeing the faithful witness of the volunteers on the sidewalk, I was encouraged to continue coming to the clinic and making sure all the people entering that place knew they were loved.
Why you are pro life (is there a story here?): I can’t remember a precise moment when I began to consider myself pro-life. Growing up, it was just one of those things that was simply ingrained, and I never thought about it. The rationale always made sense in my mind, but it wasn’t until I was on the sidewalk did I realize that my pro-life convictions needed to be more than ideas. This was something that required action, and I had the opportunity to do something about it.
Any additional thoughts (comments): The time I spent at the Coalition for Life truly changed my perspective towards my love of neighbor. Before, the idea of abortion was just something I identified as a moral wrong. Afterwards, I was able to see people on all sides of the issue for what they are- broken sinners, just like the rest of us. God has taught me so much on the sidewalk, and I would encourage anyone who is hesitant to get out there to step out in faith and take the risk. You will not regret it!
